Case Study: Bellway Homes

The Challenge

Bellway Homes sought to differentiate its properties in a competitive market by offering superior-quality countertops that were luxurious and practical without significantly increasing costs or adding complexity to the installation process.

A core driver was the move to more sustainable materials, which was reflected in their Energy House Project 2022. Athena installed the worktops, which were Dekton, but this was a cost-prohibitive material to use across the Group. A suitable solution was needed if this would be a mainstream buyer offering.

The Solution

Bellway required a material that was sustainable, hardwearing, and desirable, yet they needed to be pragmatic about price. In response, Athena collaborated closely with Bellway to find an alternative that would meet their requirements for quality and affordability.

Mirage porcelain from Italy was introduced as a premium material with all the benefits of Dekton but at a price comparable to quartz. Bellway has committed to replacing all quartz options with Porcelain by May 2025, thereby leading the way in implementing sustainable solutions.

"Our collaboration with Athena has been seamless, and we can always rely on their team to provide a highly efficient and effective service" - Maria Seed, Group Sales & Marketing Director at Bellway.

By introducing Mirage porcelain, Bellway has not only enhanced the value proposition of their houses but also set a new standard in the volume housebuilding sector, offering a luxurious yet affordable alternative to more traditional quartz surfaces.
