Case Study: Persimmon Homes

Persimmon Homes, one of the UK's leading housebuilders, has built over 13,500 homes annually in more than 350 prime locations since their founding in 1972.


With a strong commitment to quality in design, construction, and customer service, Persimmon has partnered with Athena Worksurfaces for nearly a decade, starting with one region and growing to become their sole supplier for solid surfaces across the country.


The Challenge

Persimmon had traditionally used their kitchen furniture manufacturers (FKMs) to supply solid worksurfaces to all 300+ sites across the UK. They were receiving poor service in the form on long turnaround times and responses to snagging. They needed site communication to drastically improve.


The Solution

Athena took back control of worksurfaces on all sites and introduced two ranges of materials that were more in keeping with the Persimmon brand. Pricing was simplified to reflect their core house types, and 12 colours were introduced, all at the same price point.


A dedicated phone app was set up to ease call-offs, and a staging section was created, meaning sites had 'real-time' communication and information on orders and issues.


Finally, we introduced 48-hour express turnaround times to allow the processing of back orders and the business to catch up with the order book. Persimmon has increased its conversion rates, and 94% of worksurfaces are installed 72 hours after being templated UK-wide, reducing service level issues.
